
10th Annual Living Spirit Awards
West Hartford, CT – In recognition of efforts within the region, three honorees have been awarded the 2012 Living Spirit Award from the Spiritual Life Center. The presentations were made on Monday, May 14 in front of more than 250 people who attended an awards dinner at Tower Ridge Country Club in Simsbury. Those who were honored this year at the 10th Annual Living Spirit Awards Dinner were Deacon Arthur Miller, Director of the Office of Black Catholic Ministries for his wide-ranging work in the Hartford area, Unified Theater for promoting ability over disability, creativity over conformity, and collaboration over competition and The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut for providing an understanding of Islam and Muslims through education and outreach. Aida Mansoor, president of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut, accepted the award.
The Living Spirit Award is presented annually to individuals and organizations that demonstrate a witness of faith through their service to others, an openness to people of diverse backgrounds and a commitment to sharing spirituality with the larger community.
