The seminar begins with an overview of Muslim demographics, practices and traditions, pertinent contemporary issues and their implications for professionals who work with Muslim populations or who want to gain awareness. A discussion of common stereotypes about Muslims and their faith and resultant hate crimes committed against them in a post 9/11 environment is presented. The seminar also addresses protocols for interaction with both individuals and community institutions, and provides leaders the opportunity to share their policies and experiences
serving Muslim members of the community. The seminar ends with a discussion of opportunities for cooperation.
