October Hike: Great Pond, Simsbury

Photo taken on October 6, 2012 of Great Pond, Simsbury - Hike destination
October 13, 2012
Join us on Saturday, October 13, 2012 for this great opportunity! The hike circles a little body of water called Great Pond. The actual hike is for beginners and is "easy terrain with little or no elevation change". This is just our 2nd hike ever, so we are starting out easy - just 1.5 miles of beautiful terrain - come and enjoy the beautiful environment and spectacular views.
Directions : From the junction of CT 167 and CT 10/US 202 in Simsbury follow CT 167 south for 0.2mile to the next traffic light at Firetown Road and turn right. Proceed down Firetown Road for 0.7 mile and then fork left onto Great Pond Road. The dirt road entrance to Great Pond State forest(I missed it the first time!!) is a little obscure but is on your right 1.6miles along Great Pond Road. At the end of this dirt road is a parking lot where we will meet at 10am. FYI my cell is 860 794 5141.
Hoping to see many people – it is a really beautiful hike close to nature! This really IS the time to witness prime Fall colors. It also is a great place for bird lovers.
