Our Mission 1) To promote an accurate portrayal of Islam and Muslims in the mass media, popular culture and local community through education and outreach. 2) To educate the Muslim community about the US political system and opportunities to get involved. 3) To build alliances with Muslim and non-Muslim groups on important issues. 4) To establish leadership training of a future generation of Muslims. 5) To develop social service programs which address the needs of the local community. 6) To educate and inform our community about legislation - both state and federal which impact our civil liberties. Our Goals: A. Annual event of invited speakers on: 1. Youth activism. 2. Civil rights education. 3. Political education. 4. Social activism. B. Addressing the needs of the community in Connecticut: 1. Working in shelters for homeless and victims of domestic violence. 2. Working in soup kitchens. 3. Working on crisis intervention with social worker support. C. Outreach to other Muslim organizations and masajid. D. Annual family retreat. E. Establishing a speaker's bureau and distributing resource packages on Islam. F. Starting a quarterly news letter about upcoming events.
