BEYOND THE VEIL is a photography exhibition opportunity open to all photographers living in Connecticut and neighboring states in the Northeast. With this exhibit, the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut (MCCT) in collaboration with Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts’ Muslim Women’s Voices at Wesleyan (MWV) intends to expand awareness, knowledge, and understanding of Muslim women in the State of Connecticut through the lens of photography.
With BEYOND THE VEIL, MCCT and MWV hope to highlight the daily lives of Muslim women in the State of Connecticut and their contributions to society. Each entry needs to feature a Muslim woman or group of women and could be taken in the workplace, school, social events, homes, houses of worship, etc. Topics to explore include ethnic and socioeconomic diversity, professional careers, family life, fashion and lifestyle, prayer, community service, sports, etc.
If you are a photographer, amateur or professional, we would like to hear from you! Each photographer is limited to three entries, each with a short description of who the subject is and the topic of the photograph.
